Identity: Zhongshan Zhuang

Victor Cheng is an artist, passionate in painting and fond of fine arts, in particular classical music. A businessman by profession, Victor has arranged and organized many important concert events in the Chinese community in the U.S.A. Identity: Zhongshan Zhuang is the brainchild of Victor, a symphonic story for which he writes the motive, theme and melody.

Victor was born in the Fujian Province of China. When he was 8 years old, he and his family moved to Hong Kong. After he graduated from high school, he moved to Los Angeles to attend university and study graphic design and fine art. Victor’s art and his music are inspired by his real life experiences. He loves to paint what he sees and play what he feels. He sings and plays the harmonica and the guitar to create his melodies. For the past 14 years, Victor has produced many successful concert performances. He has developed wonderful working relationships with various members of the classical and traditional music world in China and in the United States. He has spent most of the last decade producing concerts in the Los Angeles area for some of China’s greatest musical treasures. Victor has had the honor of working with such critically acclaimed musicians as: Fou Ts'ong (International Fredrick Chopin Piano Competition - 3rd Place), Zhang Haochen (Van Cliburn International Piano Competition - 1st Place), Li Yundi (International Fredrick Chopin Piano Competition - 1st Place), Yin Chengzong (International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition - 2nd Place), Xue Wei (International Tchaikovsky Violin Competition - 2nd Place), Huang Bin (The Paganini Violin Competition - 1st Place), Zhao Hui and the Z-Way Group, Chen Sa (Van Cliburn International Piano Competition - 3rd Place, International Fredrick Chopin Piano Competition - 4th Place), Chang Qu, and Xiangdong Kong. In addition, Victor has teamed up with such maestros as Li Delun in some of the most well-received concerts by Chinese musicians in California.

郑维德是位生意人，也是个艺术家。他热爱画画与古典音乐。郑先生在美国华人社区曾经组织安排过多次成功的音乐会。可他那大半个脑袋瓜里充满了浪漫自然的艺术思想，当然换回来的是一个不太成功的生意人。

郑维德生于中国福建，八岁时与家人移居香港。高中毕业后来到洛杉矶读大学，主修广告设计。郑维德崇尚自然，无论是他的画作或是音乐，都是隐藏于他的实际生活。他喜欢到实地景物中去写生，过去三十年他曾创作了一些小曲子，譬如“中山装”的主旋律，往往都是他内心深处对发生在周边事物的感受。郑维德没有受过音乐教育，也不懂五线谱，因此他作曲是经由口唱，吹口琴或弹吉他编成很简单的曲子并记忆在脑海里。近几年在偶然的机缘下认识一些编曲者，他一边唱、一边讲述曲子的相关故事内容与曲子应有的发展，让这些编曲者协助编成谱。

过往十多年间，郑维德制作过多场成功圆满的音乐会，他在中国与美国和许多古典与传统的音乐界人士发展出非常友好的合作关系。他为中国顶级的音乐团体在洛杉矶与旧金山举办音乐会。例如：中国爱乐乐团、中国国家交响乐团等。他很荣幸曾与极获好评的音乐家共事过，如：傅聪……此外，郑维德与著名的指挥大师，如：李德伦在加州与华裔所组成的乐团合作并举办广受欢迎的音乐会。
